Meet Pawel – our energetic Head Chef
‘Pav’ is a true foodie at heart. Growing up on a farm in Poland, his parents were strict advocates for fresh produce and home cooked meals. They made most of what they ate themselves – their own charcuterie, bread, butter, pickles and smoked their own fish.

From the age of seven Pav was taken out foraging for wild mushrooms, billberries, cranberries, sorrel and so on and this became a firm hobby and the backbone of Pav’s approach to food.

Pav hates short cuts and you’ll find him making everything he can from scratch – from sourdough starters, to fruit syrups for drinks. He is particular about sourcing and handpicking suppliers – be they large or small, near or far – based on the quality of the product.

Before moving to the shire Pav has created and served food in Wales, Norway, on cruise liners and, most recently, Soho Farmhouse.


Thoughtfully created menus chocked full of punchy flavours, presented with a twist and a story to tell await you.


Bar service in the pub or beer garden. Regrettably, we cannot reserve tables.


Full table service in The Malthouse restaurant or on the terrace.
